There are two versions of MainPlan
available:

MainPlan
Gold+ provides all the features generally required in a
standalone CMMS and is suitable for all organizations.
It provides automated scheduling of Preventative Maintenance Routines by both
fixed calendar intervals and plant condition. The PM Routine
maintenance scheduling module provide every conceivable scheduling
option. Gold+ includes an asset register, labour register,
suppliers register, work procedures and safety procedures registers
and full access to all maintenance history. Fixed and user defined
reports are available. A full
stores, purchasing, inventory control module is included, together
with electric motor register, drawing
register and rotables register. Faults and remedies
registers have been provided.
Tight integration between stores and
maintenance is provided with Bill of Materials and Work Order Spares
kits. MainPlan Gold+ will benefit
many industries which until now have had to spend many tens of
thousands of dollars purchasing cumbersome systems to obtain the advanced
purchasing and stock control systems offered by this system.
MainPlan Gold+ Features
 | Plant/Asset hierarchy is six levels deep. |
 | Hierarchy realignment occurs automatically. Individual Plant Names
and Codes can be changed anytime and the system automatically
cascades the changes through PM Routines, Backlog, History, Spares
etc |
 | Documents can be attached to Assets, PM Routines and Backlog entries
(Work Orders). Documents attached to
Work Orders may be
automatically printed after the Work Order is printed. This feature
is invaluable for printing Hot Work Permits, JSA’s and the like
and may also be used for printing the latest copies of previous
readings that have been taken. |
 | Work Orders and PM Routines may have multiple Assets
attached to them, so it is possible to generate a work order for
a specific asset type and have the Work Order cover all other
assets of the same type. |
 | SCADA links are now available. MainPlan can interact with SCADA
systems and trigger Work Orders based on real-time plant conditions
such as run time, number of operations, filter DP etc.. |
 | The system calculates the
average cost of spares based on the quantities purchased and the
price paid and uses this value to calculate the real cost of
maintenance. |
 | MainPlan provides full multi-site compatibility when running on Windows
Server 2003 Terminal Server edition or Citrix. |

MainPlan Standard
is aimed at the first time CMMS user. It provides all the CMMS
functionality generally required by an organization implementing its
first system including automated scheduling of PM Routine preventative
maintenance by both fixed calendar intervals and plant condition,
asset register, labour register, suppliers register, work procedures
and safety procedures registers and full access to all maintenance
history. Fixed and user defined reports are available and a basic
spare parts management system is included.

MainPlan
has a large number of features that assist in maintenance
management. The majority of features are common to both versions and outlined below are the major features of MainPlan that
are provided in both MainPlan Standard and MainPlan
Gold+. Some of the unique MainPlan Gold+ features are detailed
at the bottom of this page (please click here)
Plant or Asset
Register
The
Plant/Asset register contains details of all
maintained items. Identification of assets is carried out via a
three tier structured hierarchy, by assigning three description
fields and three code fields for unique identification.
A free-form text field is available for each entry
for storing details such as make, model, serial number, supplier and
date of service. On-screen title headings for most fields are
user-definable.
MainPlan
Gold+ vastly extends the Plant/Asset register to track
cost centre, make, model, model number, serial number, OEM
information, date purchased, original cost, depreciation rate
and method, written down value plus direct access to asset meter
readings. The plant hierarchy is extended from a three to a six
tier hierarchy.
The Plant/Asset register has other tables attached
to it:
 |
Spares used by the asset (bill of materials) |
 |
Rotables attached to the asset |
 |
Drawings relating to the asset |
 |
Electric motors attached to the asset |
 |
The current and previous locations of the asset |
The Plant/Asset register is linked by hot buttons to
other files within the system, such as:
 | PM ROUTINES that pertain to the asset |
 | BACKLOG of work on the asset |
 | HISTORY of work done on the asset |
 | SPARES used by the asset |
How MainPlan Controls Planned
Maintenance
Preventative Maintenance tasks (PM Routines) are automatically
generated one week prior to the required week and automatically
loaded into the Backlog file. PM Routines can be automatically
scheduled for any week or meter readings with user-definable units
of measure (eg hours, kilometres, cycles, KPa, or PSI) can be used
to generate PM Routines automatically based on meter setpoints.
MainPlan Standard allows calendar based scheduling by fixed week or a calendar date and
fixed interval in days, months or years. Meter based
scheduling uses a fixed threshold.
MainPlan Gold+ adds
many options to maintenance scheduling:
 | schedule by fixed week |
 | schedule by incremental week |
 | schedule by fixed date |
 | schedule by fixed date, reschedule from last done date |
 | schedule by incremental date |
 | schedule by incremental date, reschedule from last done date |
 | schedule by threshold meter |
 | schedule by incremental meter |
 | schedule by week or threshold meter |
 | schedule by week or incremental meter |
Breakdowns, Modifications and
Capital Projects
Breakdowns, Modifications and Capital Projects are directly
loaded into the Backlog file using either MainPlan Backlog entry or
the operator front-end JobRequest. Backlog
entries automatically produce Work Orders and include details such
as start date, week, initiator, estimated times, trades, priority
and detailed work and safety procedures.
Work and Safety Procedures
Procedures (written instructions) are stored in the Safety or
Work Procedures file, and are linked to Work Orders. Text can be
edited or created by cutting and pasting text from record to records
just like a word processor, or by importing from other sources.
Control and Analysis
All outstanding Work Orders remain in Backlog until marked as
complete. The relevant Work Order is then removed from Backlog and
loaded into the History file.
The user may display a graph of PM Routine work hours and
interrogate subtotals or individual trades totals.
Redistribution of working hours per week to maintain a balance is
thus easily achieved.
Spare Parts Inventory Control
MainPlan Standard
provides a spare parts register that can be used to keep track of
stock balances. Each spare part can be attached to an asset.
MainPlan
Gold provides full stores and ordering capabilities.
Additional features include on-screen cross-referencing of all
spares to all asset items and rotables that use the spare and all suppliers of
the spare. Spare kits may be assigned to Work Orders. Full stock control
is provided with purchase order issue, stock receival, stock
issue, return to store and stock take (random and complete).
Labour
Labour resources are user definable for either general or
individual trade codes and labour rates may be assigned for accurate
cost analysis.
History
All completed work orders are stored in a history file.
Labour costs are easily obtained by calculations carried out between
history records and the labour charge rate codes. Extraction
of costs is set by the user to desired requirements, whether
individual plant items, sections of the plant or the plant as a
whole, over any time period specified. MainPlan Standard allows the cost of spares and materials to be entered when
work orders are closed out. MainPlan Gold+ calculates cost of
spares and materials automatically when work orders are closed out.
Reports
Reports
are both pre-defined and user-definable. A set of pre-defined
reports is supplied for general use. A powerful graphical report
writing and editing facility is included. Recognition for the need
to customise reports to contain relevant data laid out in a format
that is easily comprehended at all levels, is one of MainPlan's
unique features. MainPlan support will write custom reports for a
small charge.
Export
Data from MainPlan can easily be exported to Microsoft Excel
using the inbuilt export facilities.
MainPlan
Gold+ provides several additional unique features in
addition to those mentioned above:
 | A five level Location Register which allows a location to be
attached to each asset item. The levels are user-definable
(nominally Site, Building, Department, Floor, Room). The
ability to track an asset location is particularly useful in
many applications, particularly facilities management. |
 | A Faults Register to allow standard fault descriptions to be
used. |
 | A Remedies Register to allow standard repair descriptions to
be used. |
JobRequest
The JobRequest system is a simple front end to enable users to
enter job requests into MainPlan without actually running the full
MainPlan system. There is no user limit on JobRequest, and it is
available for MainPlan Standard and Mainplan Gold+.
